Golden Orb Weaver Spiders:

Golden Orb Weavers are also commonly known as banana spiders.

These spiders exhibit sexual dimorphism.  This means that the males and females look different. The large yellow spiders are the females, and the small brown spiders are the males.

Golden Orb Weavers belong to the genus Nephila.  The Nephila genus of spiders is the oldest surviving genus in the world. They have lived for over 165 million years.

Golden Orb Weavers can benefit humans by limiting fly populations.

 The Golden Orb Weaver’s web is so stretchy and strong that it has been used to make violin strings!
