Nature Center and Learning Lab

Nestled within the beauty of Crystal Springs Preserve is our 4,000-square-foot Nature Center and Learning Lab that is equipped with state-of-the-art science equipment designed to enhance our outdoor Living Laboratory! On display in the Nature Center are many species of reptiles native to Florida. The Learning Lab is an opportunity for students to combine environmental science with technology.

Modern Bathrooms

Available for the use of our students and visitors are accessible, modern bathrooms located adjacent to our Learning Lab. Our restrooms also provide those guests participating in water-based activities with ample room to change wet clothing following their program.

Wilderness Pavilion

A walk down trail on a wooden boardwalk that follows the beautiful Hillsborough River will bring you to our 3,000-square-foot, screened in, Wilderness Pavilion! Utilized primarily for our educational programming, this building is equipped with ceiling fans, electrical outlets, and wooden picnic tables. Students enjoy a cool breeze underneath the shade of large Live Oaks and Sabal Palmetto trees while learning.

This facility is also used to host corporate meetings or team building events as a part of our lifelong learning programming, with only the sounds of the Hillsborough River, songbirds, and occasional raptors as a distraction.

Butterfly Gardens

Wilderness experiences at Crystal Springs Preserve are enhanced by magnificent wildlife viewing opportunities. Look up, look down, look all around, wildlife is everywhere! Crystal Springs Preserve features beautiful butterfly gardens with a wide variety of host plants for many of Florida’s native butterfly and moth species.
