Our Team

Ashley Thomas, President

Ashley has served as President of the Crystal Springs Foundation since 2023. Prior to joining CSF, Ashley served in a progression of leadership positions in public, government and community relations in higher education and county government. Ashley graduated with a degree in Public Affairs from Rollins College. A multi-generational native Floridian, Ashley enjoys any activity that involves being outdoors to enjoy Florida’s natural resources, especially fishing, swimming, and paddleboarding.

Vicki Mohr, Lead Educator

Vicki has served as a member of the CSF education team since 2008. Prior to joining CSF, Vicki served as a forest ranger and coordinated environmental volunteers to help run various forest preserve programs. Vicki graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with a degree in Marketing and Management and is a FMNP Master Naturalist. She enjoys fresh and saltwater kayaking, fishing, and snorkeling. She loves “marketing” nature to kids of all ages and teaching them about wildlife, conservation, and water stewardship.

Maegan Rebello, Educator

Maegan has served as a member of the CSF education team since 2024. Prior to joining CSF, Maegan worked as a 2nd grade teacher. Maegan graduated from the University of Tampa with a degree in Marine Biology and Environmental Science as well as earning a master’s degree in Marine Science and Conservation from Unity College. Maegan spent many years volunteering at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium as well as interning at Zoo Tampa. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, snorkeling, scuba diving and all things conservation.

Helen Scott, Educator

Helen is a native Tampanian who graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Natural Resource Conservation and a minor in Ecotourism. In addition, Helen completed a masters of education from Concordia University.  She started her career as an educator with Crystal Springs Foundation in 2008. With the development of the incredible WaterVentures Learning Lab, Helen oversaw the team of educators who traveled throughout the state of Florida visiting schools, fairs and festivals. After taking a little hiatus to start her own business, Helen returned to CSF in 2024 to once again share her love of the environment with students of all ages. As a Florida Master Naturalist, Helen enjoys environmental photography and spending time in nature with her family.  

Matt Scott, Educator

Matt has served as a member of the CSF since 2025.  Prior to joining CSF, Matt worked as an educator at Nature’s Classroom and has also worked in clinical research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Matt graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in medicine. In his spare time, Matt enjoys running, swimming and kayaking. Matt especially loves teaching how enjoying nature is good for both health and happiness.

Jerry Slagle, Resource Manager

Jerry has served as the Resource Manager for Crystal Springs Preserve since 2011. In that capacity, he oversees the security and safety operations of Crystal Springs Preserve. Jerry has a background in Fire Science and is a certified Florida Master Naturalist. In his spare time, Jerry enjoys cheering on his favorite team, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
